"Empty Pod Husks"

Some husks show signs of insect damage, further evidence of how delicate the cacao tree is. Pod Husks are essentially a waste product of the cocoa production process. Each ton of dry seed represents about 10 tons of husks. Small amounts of husks have been used to make cattle feed, cocoa pigment and soaps.
