"Ripe Cacao Pod"

A cacao pod ready for harvest. On average they are 20cms long and weigh up to 450g each containing 20-40 seeds. Only a small proportion (5%) of the tiny white flowers (pictured top left) develop into fruits (pods) and in places like Ecuador flower all year round.
